Preferencia de liquidez
En la teoría macroeconómica, la preferencia por liquidez se refiere a la demanda de dinero, considerada como liquidez. El concepto fue desarrollado por primera vez por John Maynard Keynes en su libro The General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money para explicar la determinación de la tasa de interés por la oferta y la demanda de dinero. La demanda de dinero como un activo se teorizó para depender de los intereses perdidos por no mantener los bonos. Las tasas de interés, argumenta, no pueden ser una recompensa por el ahorro como tal, porque si una persona acumula sus ahorros en efectivo, manteniéndolo bajo el colchón, no recibirá ningún interés, aunque se ha abstenido de consumir todos sus ingresos actuales. En lugar de una recompensa por el ahorro, el interés, en el análisis keynesiano, es una recompensa por separarse con liquidez. Según Keynes, la demanda de liquidez se determina por tres motivos: ▪ el motivo de las transacciones: las personas prefieren tener liquidez para asegurar las transacciones básicas, ya que sus ingresos no están constantemente disponibles. La cantidad de liquidez demandada está determinada por el nivel de ingreso: cuanto más alto sea el ingreso, más dinero se demandará para realizar mayores gastos.
