Magnetización
En el electromagnetismo clásico, la magnetización o polarización magnética es el campo vectorial que expresa la densidad de los momentos dipolares magnéticos permanentes o inducidos en un material magnético. El origen de los momentos magnéticos responsables de la magnetización puede ser las corrientes eléctricas microscópicas resultantes del movimiento de los electrones en los átomos o el giro de los electrones o de los núcleos. La magnetización neta resulta de la respuesta de un material a un campo magnético externo, junto con cualquier momento de dipolo magnético desequilibrado que puede ser inherente en el propio material; Por ejemplo, en ferromagnetes. La magnetización no siempre es homogénea dentro de un cuerpo, sino que varía entre diferentes puntos. La magnetización también describe cómo un material responde a un campo magnético aplicado, así como la forma en que el material cambia el campo magnético y puede utilizarse para calcular las fuerzas que resultan de esas interacciones. Se puede comparar con la polarización eléctrica, que es la medida de la respuesta correspondiente de un material a un campo eléctrico en electrostática. Los físicos y los ingenieros definen la magnetización como la cantidad de momento magnético por unidad de volumen.
