QUÉ SIGNIFICA MICROPROGRAM EN INGLÉS
Microcódigo
Microcódigo es una capa de instrucciones a nivel de hardware o estructuras de datos involucradas en la implementación de instrucciones de código de máquina de nivel superior en unidades centrales de procesamiento y en la implementación de la lógica interna de muchos controladores de canal, controladores de disco, Unidades de procesamiento de gráficos y otro hardware. Reside en una memoria especial de alta velocidad y traduce las instrucciones de la máquina en secuencias de operaciones detalladas a nivel de circuito. Ayuda a separar las instrucciones de la máquina de la electrónica subyacente para que las instrucciones puedan ser diseñadas y alteradas más libremente. También hace factible la construcción de complejas instrucciones de varios pasos mientras se sigue reduciendo la complejidad de los circuitos electrónicos en comparación con otros métodos. El microcódigo de escritura se denomina a menudo microprogramación y el microcódigo en una implementación de procesador particular se denomina a veces microprograma. El microcódigo moderno normalmente es escrito por un ingeniero durante la fase de diseño del procesador y almacenado en una estructura ROM o PLA, o una combinación de ambos. Sin embargo, también existen máquinas que tienen algún microcódigo almacenado en SRAM o memoria flash.
