Un micrótomo es una herramienta usada para cortar rebanadas extremadamente finas de material, conocidas como secciones. Las secciones de microtomo pueden hacerse lo suficientemente delgadas como para seccionar un cabello humano a través de su anchura, con un grosor de sección entre 50 nm y 100 μm.
