El morepork, también llamado el buho manchado tasmano, es un pequeño búho marrón encontrado a través de Nueva Zelandia, Tasmania, a través de la mayor parte de continente Australia y en Timor, Nueva Guinea meridional e islas próximas. Este ave es la lechuza más pequeña de Australia y es el búho más extensamente distribuido y común del continente.
