QUÉ SIGNIFICA MULTIDENTATE EN INGLÉS
Denticidad
Denticity se refiere al número de átomos en un solo ligando que se unen a un átomo central en un complejo de coordinación. En muchos casos, sólo un átomo en el ligando se une al metal, por lo que la denticidad es igual a uno, y se dice que el ligando es monodentado. Los ligandos con más de un átomo unido se llaman polidentes o multidentados. La palabra denticity se deriva de dentis, la palabra latina para el diente. Se piensa que el ligando morder el metal en uno o más puntos de unión. La denticidad de un ligando se describe con la letra griega κ. Por ejemplo, κ6-EDTA describe un ligando EDTA que se coordina a través de 6 átomos no contiguos. La denticidad es diferente de la hapticidad porque la hapticidad se refiere exclusivamente a ligandos donde los átomos de coordinación son contiguos. En estos casos se utiliza la notación η. Los ligandos puente utilizan la notación μ.
