Nemertea
Nemertea es un filo de animales invertebrados también conocidos como "gusanos de cinta" o "gusanos de probóscide". Los nombres alternativos para el phylum han incluido Nemertini, Nemertinea y Rhynchocoela. Aunque la mayoría tiene menos de 20 centímetros de largo, un espécimen se ha estimado en 54 metros, lo que lo convertiría en el animal más largo jamás encontrado. La mayoría son muy delgadas, por lo general sólo unos pocos milímetros de ancho, aunque algunos tienen cuerpos relativamente cortos pero anchos. Muchos tienen patrones de coloración amarilla, naranja, roja y verde. El intestino anterior, el estómago y el intestino corren un poco por debajo de la línea media del cuerpo, el ano está en la punta de la cola y la boca está por debajo del frente. Un poco por encima de la tripa es el rhynchocoel, una cavidad que sobre todo corre por encima de la línea media y termina un poco corto de la parte trasera del cuerpo. Todas las especies tienen una probóscide que se encuentra en el rhynchocoel cuando inactivo, pero everts para emerger justo por encima de la boca y capturar la presa del animal con veneno. Un músculo muy elástico en la parte posterior del rhynchocoel tira de la probóscide en cuando termina un ataque. Algunas especies con cuerpos rechonchos alimentan el filtro y tienen retoños en los extremos delantero y trasero, con los que se unen a un huésped.
