Niobio
El Niobio, anteriormente columbio, es un elemento químico con el símbolo Nb y número atómico 41. Es un metal de transición suave, gris, dúctil, que se encuentra a menudo en el mineral de pirocloro, la principal fuente comercial de niobio y columbita. El nombre proviene de la mitología griega: Niobe, hija de Tántalo. El niobio tiene propiedades físicas y químicas similares a las del elemento tantalio, por lo que es difícil distinguirlas. El químico inglés Charles Hatchett reportó un nuevo elemento similar al tantalio en 1801 y lo nombró columbio.
