Comunicación no verbal
La comunicación no verbal es el proceso de comunicación mediante el envío y la recepción de señales sin palabras entre las personas. A veces se la denomina erróneamente como lenguaje corporal, pero la comunicación no verbal abarca mucho más, como el uso de la voz, el tacto, la distancia y la apariencia física. Típicamente se pasa por alto en la comunicación no verbal la proxémica, o el espacio informal alrededor del cuerpo y la cronémica: el uso del tiempo. No sólo considerado contacto visual, oculesics comprende las acciones de mirar mientras habla y escucha, frecuencia de miradas, patrones de fijación, dilatación de la pupila y tasa de parpadeo. Incluso el habla contiene elementos no verbales conocidos como paralanguage, incluyendo calidad de voz, velocidad, tono, volumen y estilo de hablar, así como características prosódicas como ritmo, entonación y estrés. Del mismo modo, los textos escritos tienen elementos no verbales como el estilo de escritura a mano, la disposición espacial de las palabras o el diseño físico de una página.
