Ossetia
Ossetia es una región etnolingüística ubicada a ambos lados de las montañas del Cáucaso, en gran parte habitada por los osetios. La lengua osetiana es parte de la rama oriental iraní de la familia de lenguas indoeuropeas. La zona de habla osetiana al sur de la cresta principal del Cáucaso es reconocida por la mayoría de los países como dentro de las fronteras de Georgia, pero bajo el control del gobierno de facto de la República de Osetia del Sur respaldado por Rusia. La parte norte de la región consiste en la república de Osetia del Norte-Alania dentro de la Federación Rusa.
