La fotoconductividad es un fenómeno óptico y eléctrico en el que un material se vuelve más conductor eléctrico debido a la absorción de radiación electromagnética tal como luz visible, luz ultravioleta, luz infrarroja o radiación gamma. Cuando la luz es absorbida por un material como un semiconductor, el número de electrones libres y los agujeros de electrones aumentan y aumentan su conductividad eléctrica.
