Polinesia
Polinesia es una subregión de Oceanía, formada por más de 1.000 islas dispersas por el Océano Pacífico central y meridional. Los pueblos indígenas que habitan las islas de Polinesia se llaman polinesios y comparten muchos rasgos similares, incluyendo el lenguaje, la cultura y las creencias. Históricamente, eran navegantes experimentados y usaban estrellas para navegar durante la noche. El término "Polinesia" fue utilizado por primera vez en 1756 por el escritor francés Charles de Brosses, y se aplicó originalmente a todas las islas del Pacífico.
