Efecto de posición en serie
El efecto de la posición en serie es la tendencia de una persona a recordar los primeros y últimos elementos de una serie mejor, y los elementos medios peores. El término fue acuñado por Hermann Ebbinghaus a través de estudios que realizó sobre sí mismo, se refiere a la conclusión de que la exactitud de recuerdo varía en función de la posición de un elemento dentro de una lista de estudio. Cuando se le pide que recupere una lista de elementos en cualquier orden, la gente tiende a comenzar a recordar con el final de la lista, recordando mejor los elementos. Entre los elementos anteriores de la lista, los primeros elementos se recuerdan con más frecuencia que los elementos medios. Una razón sugerida para el efecto de la primacía es que los ítems iniciales presentados son más efectivamente almacenados en la memoria a largo plazo debido a la mayor cantidad de procesamiento dedicado a ellos. El efecto de la primacía se reduce cuando los elementos se presentan rápidamente y se mejora cuando se presentan lentamente. Se ha encontrado que las listas de presentación más largas reducen el efecto de primacía. Una razón teórica para el efecto de retroceso es que estos elementos están todavía presentes en la memoria de trabajo cuando se solicita el retiro. Los artículos que no se benefician de ninguno de los dos se recuerdan más mal.
