Rhytidectomy
Un lifting facial, técnicamente conocido como una ritidectomía (de griego antiguo ῥυτίς (ritis) "arruga" + ἐκτομή (ektome) "extirpación", la extirpación quirúrgica de las arrugas), es un tipo de procedimiento de cirugía estética utilizado para dar un aspecto facial más juvenil. Existen múltiples técnicas quirúrgicas. Por lo general, implica la extirpación del exceso de piel facial, con o sin el endurecimiento de los tejidos subyacentes, y la redracción de la piel en la cara y el cuello del paciente. Los estiramientos faciales se combinan eficazmente con la cirugía de los párpados (blefaroplastia) y otros procedimientos faciales y se realizan típicamente bajo anestesia general o sueño profundo crepuscular. Según las estadísticas más recientes de 2011 de la Sociedad Americana de Cirugía Plástica Estética, los liftings fueron la sexta cirugía estética más popular realizada después de la liposucción, aumento de senos, abdominoplastia, blefaroplastia (cirugía de párpados) y levantamiento de senos. Incisión sublingual a través de la cual el periostio del maxilar se eleva en un levantamiento endoscópico de la parte media de la cara (ritidectomía).
