En la lógica modal y en la filosofía del lenguaje, se dice que un término es un designador rígido cuando designa lo mismo en todos los mundos posibles en los que esa cosa existe y no designa otra cosa en aquellos mundos posibles en los que esa cosa no existe . Un designador es rígido persistentemente si designa la misma cosa en cada mundo posible en el cual esa cosa existe y no designa nada en todos los otros mundos posibles. Un designador es obstinadamente rígido si designa lo mismo en todo mundo posible, período, si esa cosa existe o no en ese mundo. Los designadores rígidos se contrastan con designadores no rígidos o flácidos, que pueden designar cosas diferentes en diferentes mundos posibles.
