Anillo de flash
Un flash de anillo, inventado por Lester A. Dine en 1952, originalmente para su uso en fotografía dental, es un flash fotográfico circular que se ajusta alrededor de la lente, especialmente para su uso en fotografía macro. Su característica más importante es proporcionar una iluminación uniforme con pocas sombras visibles en la fotografía, ya que el origen de la luz está muy cerca del eje óptico de la lente. Cuando el sujeto está muy cerca de la cámara, como es el caso en la macro fotografía, la distancia del flash respecto al eje óptico es significativa. Para objetos cercanos a la cámara, el tamaño del flash de anillo es significativo y por lo tanto la luz encuentra el sujeto desde muchos ángulos de la misma manera que lo hace con un flash convencional con caja suave. Esto tiene el efecto de suavizar aún más cualquier sombra. Los flashes de los anillos son también muy populares en fotografía del retrato y de la manera. Además de suavizar sombras y crear reflejos circulares en los ojos del modelo, la única manera que un anillo de flash da luz da al modelo un halo de sombra que es una característica común de la fotografía de moda.
