Self-esteem

La autoestima es un término usado en psicología para reflejar la evaluación emocional general de una persona de su propio valor. Es un juicio de uno mismo, así como una actitud hacia el yo. La autoestima abarca creencias y emociones como el triunfo, la desesperación, el orgullo y la vergüenza. Smith y Mackie lo definen diciendo: "El autoconcepto es lo que pensamos acerca del yo, la autoestima, las evaluaciones positivas o negativas del yo, como en cómo nos sentimos acerca de ello". 107 La autoestima también es Conocida como la dimensión evaluativa del yo que incluye sentimientos de dignidad, orgullo y desaliento. La propia autoestima también está estrechamente relacionada con la autoconciencia. La autoestima es una disposición que una persona tiene que representa sus juicios de su propia dignidad. A mediados de la década de 1960, Morris Rosenberg y los teóricos del aprendizaje social definieron la autoestima como un valor personal o digno. Nathaniel Branden definió en 1969 la autoestima como "la experiencia de ser competente para enfrentar los desafíos básicos de la vida y ser digno de la felicidad". Según Branden, la autoestima es la suma de confianza en sí mismo y autoestima. Self-esteem is a term used in psychology to reflect a person's overall emotional evaluation of his or her own worth. It is a judgment of oneself as well as an attitude toward the self. Self-esteem encompasses beliefs and emotions such as triumph, despair, pride and shame. Smith and Mackie define it by saying "The self-concept is what we think about the self; self-esteem, is the positive or negative evaluations of the self, as in how we feel about it.":107 Self-esteem is also known as the evaluative dimension of the self that includes feelings of worthiness, prides and discouragement. One's self-esteem is also closely associated with self-consciousness. Self-esteem is a disposition that a person has which represents their judgments of their own worthiness. In the mid-1960s, Morris Rosenberg and social-learning theorists defined self-esteem as a personal worth or worthiness. Nathaniel Branden in 1969 defined self-esteem as "the experience of being competent to cope with the basic challenges of life and being worthy of happiness." According to Branden, self-esteem is the sum of self-confidence and self-respect.
