Sistema Internacional de Unidades
El Sistema Internacional de Unidades es la forma moderna del sistema métrico y es el sistema de medición más utilizado del mundo, utilizado tanto en el comercio cotidiano como en la ciencia. Comprende un sistema coherente de unidades de medida construido alrededor de siete unidades de base, 22 nombrados y un número indeterminado de unidades derivadas coherentes sin nombre, y un conjunto de prefijos que actúan como multiplicadores decimales. Es parte del Sistema Internacional de Cantidades. Las normas, publicadas en 1960 como resultado de una iniciativa iniciada en 1948, se basan en el sistema de metro-kilogramo-segundo, en lugar del sistema de centímetros-gramo-segundo, que a su vez tenía varias variantes. La SI ha sido declarada como un sistema en evolución; Así se crean prefijos y unidades y las definiciones de unidades se modifican a través de un acuerdo internacional a medida que avanza la tecnología de medición y se mejora la precisión de las mediciones.
