Soliflucción
En geomorfología, la soliflucción es un proceso gradual de pérdida de masa de la pendiente, que ocurre en ambientes periglaciales. En 1906 Johan Gunnar Andersson interpretó la soliflucción como un proceso de desperdicio masivo que ocurre más comúnmente en climas más fríos donde los períodos de congelación y descongelación son ocurrencias regulares. Un tipo de proceso de fluencia, la soliflucción describe el lento movimiento hacia abajo del sedimento saturado de agua debido a la congelación y descongelación recurrente del suelo, afectada por la gravedad. Frío por la expansión volumétrica del hielo y geliflucción durante el deshielo del suelo, causan la deformación por cizallamiento inducida por gravedad del sedimento, asociada con altas presiones de agua porosa. Las velocidades de movimiento de la soliflucción dependen en gran medida de las profundidades de deshielo de la capa activa, del contenido de hielo y de la influencia de las condiciones meteorológicas. La ocurrencia de soliflucción depende de la composición de la pendiente; Mayores cantidades de materiales impermeables, como limo y arcilla, son más propensas a la soliflucción que los suelos con tamaños de grano más grandes que permiten una mayor filtración y menos sobre-saturación.
