Estereoscopia
La estereoscopia es una técnica para crear o realzar la ilusión de profundidad en una imagen por medio de estereopsis para la visión binocular. La palabra estereoscopia deriva del griego στερεός, que significa "firme, sólido", y σκοπέω, que significa "mirar, ver". Cualquier imagen estereoscópica se llama estereograma. Originalmente, el estereograma se refería a un par de imágenes estéreo que se podían ver usando un estereoscopio. La mayoría de los métodos estereoscópicos presentan dos imágenes separadas por separado para el ojo izquierdo y derecho del espectador. Estas imágenes bidimensionales se combinan en el cerebro para dar la percepción de la profundidad 3D. Esta técnica se distingue de las pantallas 3D que muestran una imagen en tres dimensiones completas, lo que permite al observador aumentar la información sobre los objetos tridimensionales que se muestran por los movimientos de la cabeza y los ojos.
