Subtractor
En electrónica, un sustractor se puede diseñar utilizando el mismo enfoque que el de un sumador. A continuación se resume el proceso de sustracción binaria. Al igual que con un sumador, en el caso general de los cálculos en números de varios bits, tres bits están implicados en la realización de la sustracción para cada bit de la diferencia: el minuendo, el subtrahend y un préstamo de la posición anterior del orden de bits. Las salidas son el bit de diferencia y el bit de préstamo. El sustractor se entiende mejor considerando que el subtrahend y ambos bits de préstamo tienen pesos negativos, mientras que los bits X y D son positivos. La operación realizada por el substractor es reescribir como la suma. Los sustractores se implementan generalmente dentro de un sumador binario sólo por un pequeño coste cuando se usa la notación de complemento estándar de dos, proporcionando un selector de adición / sustracción al carry-in e invirtiendo el segundo operando.
