QUÉ SIGNIFICA TARGUMIC EN INGLÉS
Targum
Los targumim, eran paráfrasis habladas, explicaciones y expansiones de las escrituras judías que un rabino daría en el lenguaje común de los oyentes, que durante el tiempo de esta práctica era común, pero no exclusivamente, arameo. Esto se hizo necesario cerca del final del siglo pasado antes de la era cristiana, ya que el lenguaje común estaba en transición y el hebreo se usaba poco más que la escuela y la adoración. Eventualmente se hizo necesario dar explicaciones y paráfrasis en el lenguaje común después de que se leyera la escritura hebrea. El sustantivo Targum se deriva de la raíz semitic cuadriliteral temprana 'trgm', y el término 'Targummanu' se refiere a "traductor". Ocurre en la Biblia Hebrea en Esdras 4:18 "El documento que nos enviaste ha sido leído en traducción antes que yo". Además de denotar las traducciones de la biblia, el término Targum también denotan la interpretación oral de las lecciones bíblicas en la sinagoga, mientras que el traductor de la Biblia fue llamado simplemente como hammeturgem. Aparte del significado "traducir" el verbo Tirgem también significa "explicar". La palabra Targum se refiere a "traducción" y argumentación o "explicación".
