Cosquillas es el acto de tocar una parte del cuerpo para provocar movimientos involuntarios y / o risas. La palabra "cosquillas" evolucionó desde el tikelen inglés medio, quizás frecuente de ticken, para tocar ligeramente. El idioma de cosquillas rosa significa estar satisfecho o encantado. En 1897, los psicólogos G. Stanley Hall y Arthur Allin describieron una "cosquilleo" como dos tipos diferentes de fenómenos. Un tipo es causado por el movimiento muy ligero a través de la piel. Tales sensaciones pueden ser agradables o excitantes, pero a veces se consideran altamente desagradables, particularmente en el caso de las cosquillas pesadas implacables. La pregunta de por qué una persona no podía cosquillear a sí misma fue planteada por el filósofo griego Aristóteles. Francis Bacon y Charles Darwin creían que la risa humorística requiere un estado de ánimo "ligero".
