Condicionamiento clásico
El condicionamiento clásico es una clase de aprendizaje que ocurre cuando un estímulo condicionado es emparejado con un estímulo incondicionado. Por lo general, el CS es un estímulo neutral, los EE.UU. es biológicamente potente y la respuesta incondicionada a los EE.UU. es una respuesta reflejada no aprendida. Después de repetir el emparejamiento, el organismo exhibe una respuesta condicionada al CS cuando el CS se presenta solo. Un experimento clásico de Pavlov ejemplifica el procedimiento estándar usado en el condicionamiento clásico. Primero Pavlov observó la UR producida cuando se colocó polvo de carne en la boca del perro. Entonces llamó una campana antes de dar la carne en polvo. Después de algunas repeticiones de este emparejamiento de campana y carne, el perro salivó a la campana solo, demostrando lo que Pavlov llamó una respuesta "condicional", ahora comúnmente llamada "respuesta condicionada" o CR. En el acondicionamiento el CS no está simplemente conectado a UR.
