Unitarismo
El unitarismo es un movimiento teológico, llamado por su comprensión de Dios como una sola persona, en contraste directo con el trinitarismo, que define a Dios como tres personas que coexisten consustancialmente como un ser. Los unitarios sostienen que Jesús es en cierto sentido el "hijo" de Dios, pero no el Dios único. El unitarismo también es conocido por el rechazo de varias otras doctrinas cristianas convencionales, incluyendo las doctrinas soteriológicas del pecado original y la predestinación, y, en la historia más reciente, la inerrancia bíblica. En la Enciclopedia de las religiones americanas de J. Gordon Melton se la clasifica entre "la familia" liberal "de iglesias". El movimiento unitario, aunque no llamado "unitario" inicialmente, comenzó casi simultáneamente en Polonia-Lituania y Transilvania a mediados del siglo XVI. Entre los adherentes había un número significativo de italianos. En Inglaterra la primera iglesia unitaria fue establecida en 1774 en la calle de Essex, Londres, donde las jefaturas unitarian británicas de hoy todavía están localizadas.
