Viewdata es una implementación Videotex. Es un tipo de servicio de recuperación de información en el que un abonado puede acceder a una base de datos remota a través de un canal portador común, solicitar datos y recibir datos solicitados en una pantalla de vídeo por un canal separado. Samuel Fedida fue acreditado como inventor del sistema. Fedida tuvo la idea de Viewdata en 1968. El primer prototipo se puso en funcionamiento en 1974. El acceso, la solicitud y la recepción se realizan generalmente a través de canales de transmisión de portadores comunes. Esto contrasta con el teletexto.
