Esta toxina es veneno hepático, y comer arroz, cebada, maíz y nueces envenenados causa hepatitis aguda en humanos, trastornos hepáticos en animales y cáncer de hígado. 아플라톡신 Aspergillus flavus 및 Aspergillus parasiticus 등의 진균(眞菌)이 생산하는 발암성 곰팡이독에서 화학구조가 다른 B1, B2, G1, G2, M1, M2의 6종이 분리되고 있다. 이 독소는 간장 독이고, 독소에 오염된 쌀, 보리, 옥수수, 피너츠 등을 먹으면 사람의 경우 급성간염, 동물의 경우에는 간장애, 간암을 일으킨다.
