Un general y político dedicado al Risorgimento italiano de Garibaldi (movimiento de unificación nacional y movimiento independentista). Originalmente fue un republicano que fue influenciado por el nacionalista italiano Mazzini, pero como resultado del colapso de la República Romana y el gobierno republicano, se convirtió en un movimiento unificado centrado en el reino de Cerdeña. Al organizar las "camisas rojas", conquistar Sicilia y Napoli, y someter al sur de Italia al reino de Cerdeña, hizo una contribución decisiva a la unificación de Italia. 가리발디 이탈리아의 리소르지멘토(국가 통일 운동과 독립 운동)에 헌신한 장군이자 정치가. 원래 이탈리아 민족주의자 마치니의 영향을 받은 공화주의자였으나 로마의 혁명 공화 정부가 붕괴하자 차선책으로 사르데냐 왕국 중심의 통일 운동으로 전환하였다. ‘붉은 셔츠대’를 조직해 시칠리아와 나폴리를 정복하고 남이탈리아를 사르데냐 왕국에 바침으로써 이탈리아의 통일에 결정적인 기여를 하였다.
