(1) 상인두 : 주요 증상은 지속적인 코막힘, 비출혈, 귀막힘, 뇌신경증상, 안증상, 경부종창이며 치료는 방사선 조사이다. (2) 중인두 : 전악성종양의 1~5% 가 편두종양. 예후불량. 증상은 많지 않다. 치료는 방사선조사와 수술. (3) 하인두 : 예후는 특히 나쁘다. 주요증상은 이물감, 연하통, 연하곤란. 치료는 방사선 조사와 수술.
