Biofeedback, feedback biológico: proporcionar información a las personas sobre los cambios en su estado fisiológico. Los cambios fisiológicos del cuerpo son monitoreados por un dispositivo adecuado, por ejemplo, un sistema computarizado. Este método se usa en psicología, medicina, parapsicología, pero también en deportes o negocios. También es un método de tratamiento, que comprende administrar a las señales de retroalimentación del paciente sobre los cambios en el estado fisiológico de su cuerpo, de modo que pueda aprender a modificar conscientemente las funciones que normalmente no están controlados conscientemente, por ejemplo. Las ondas cerebrales, la resistencia eléctrica de la piel, tensión muscular, etc. Información se transmiten en la forma de: ▪ visual - por ejemplo, la concentración de profundización en la pantalla aumenta de tamaño pelota o avión vuela por encima, en momentos de distracción desaparece balón, mientras el avión desciende;. ▪ acústico - sonido agradable en "éxito", desagradable en "falla". La biorretroalimentación no es una alternativa a la farmacoterapia. En algunos casos lo reemplaza, en otros lo complementa.

Biofeedback, biologiczne sprzężenie zwrotne – dostarczanie człowiekowi informacji zwrotnej o zmianach jego stanu fizjologicznego. Zmiany fizjologiczne organizmu monitorowane są przez odpowiednie urządzenie, np. pomiarowy system komputerowy. Metoda ta wykorzystywana jest między innymi w psychologii, w medycynie, w parapsychologii, ale także w sporcie czy biznesie. Jest to także metoda terapii, polegająca na podawaniu pacjentowi sygnałów zwrotnych o zmianach stanu fizjologicznego jego organizmu, dzięki czemu może on nauczyć się świadomie modyfikować funkcje, które normalnie nie są kontrolowane świadomie, np. fale mózgowe, opór elektryczny skóry, napięcie mięśni itp. Informacje przekazywane są w formie: ▪ wizualnej - np. podczas pogłębiania koncentracji na ekranie monitora powiększa się piłka lub samolot leci wyżej, w chwilach rozproszenia piłka znika, natomiast samolot obniża lot; ▪ akustycznej - przyjemny dźwięk przy „sukcesie”, nieprzyjemny przy „porażce”. Biofeedback nie jest alternatywną formą terapii w stosunku do farmakoterapii. W niektórych schorzeniach ją zastępuje, w innych uzupełnia.
