Grog - Ron u otra bebida fuerte, diluida con agua; Incluya jugo de cítricos, canela, agua caliente o azúcar para mejorar el sabor. Sirvió una vez a marineros en veleros. La popularidad del ron en el siglo XVII llevó a la Royal Navy al día, en 1655, el día anterior a la sustitución de los marineros. Miało to zapobiec "chomikowaniu" przez marynarzy alkoholu, wypijanego później w większej ilości naraz w celu upicia się, oraz skłonić ich do picia wody. Co jednak ważniejsze, do tak rozcieńczonego rumu dodawano cukru i soku z limonek. Marynarze nazwali nowy trunek grogiem na cześć admirała, który nosił przezwisko Old Grog ze względu na swój nieodłączny sztormiak uszyty z grogramu. Grog przyczynił się wydatnie do poprawy stanu zdrowia marynarzy.
