Moneda Cypraea - grado de porcelana. Alcanza de 10 a 44 mm, típicamente alrededor de 20-25 mm. La especie más común de porcelana se encuentra en un área grande, la población se estima en cientos de miles de millones de individuos. Cypraea fue utilizado en el pasado como una nómina: un sustituto del dinero. La "menta" de esta moneda de porcelana era las Maldivas, también conocidas como las "islas de kauri". Se supone que C. coin como medio de pago se usó por primera vez en China en los siglos XV-XVI, y en otras partes de Asia ya en el siglo XI. Cypraea moneta używana była w przeszłości jako płacidło - surogat pieniądza. "Mennicą" tej porcelankowej waluty były Malediwy, zwane również "wyspami kauri". Przypuszcza się, że C. moneta w roli środka płatniczego użyto po raz pierwszy w Chinach w XV-XVI wieku, a w innych regionach Azji już nawet w wieku XI. W XVIII wieku za porcelanki kupowano niewolników, których później sprzedawano w Ameryce - proceder ten przynosił ogromne zyski trudniącym się nim Anglikom i Holendrom. W obecnych czasach porcelanki C. moneta używa się na ogromną skalę w przemyśle pamiątkarskim - wytwarzane z niej przedmioty są stałym elementem straganów i sklepów w miejscowościach o charakterze turystycznym. Kauri ma również drobne powiązanie z Polską - jej muszelki są używane przez polskich górali do ozdabiania kapeluszy, wchodzących w skład ich tradycyjnego, ludowego stroju.
