Lagos - la ciudad más grande y antigua capital de Nigeria, cerca de 10 millones de habitantes. El más grande en Kinshasa y El Cairo en África. La capital de Nigeria hasta 1991, cuando la capital fue trasladada a Abuja. Lagos, a pesar de trasladar la capital a Abuja, siguió siendo el centro económico del país. Handlowano przyprawami, kością słoniową i niewolnikami. Miasto zostało przejęte przez Brytyjczyków w 1807 w celu powstrzymania handlu niewolnikami. Zostało wcielone do kolonii Nigerii w 1900. W 1962 roku założono jedyny w mieście uniwersytet.
