Sólido - moneda de oro de los romanos. Introducido alrededor de 308 por el emperador romano Constantino I. Pesó 3,89 gramos y correspondió a 1/72 libras de oro. Golpeado en el Imperio Romano, y más tarde en sus seguidores del imperio bizantino. A fines del siglo X, el sólido era la principal moneda comercial de Bizancio, comúnmente conocido como el nomograma. También conocida en la amplia circulación como bizantina, esta moneda fue uno de los medios de pago más importantes en Europa y el Mediterráneo hasta mediados del siglo XI. Primero reemplazó el valioso histamenon de oro, y luego llevado a cabo por el emperador Alexey I Komnen la reforma monetaria introdujo el hyperpyron como la moneda comercial más importante de Bizancio. Solid – złota moneta rzymska. Wprowadzona ok. 308 roku przez cesarza rzymskiego Konstantyna I. Ważyła 3,89 grama i odpowiadała 1/72 funta złota. Bita w cesarstwie rzymskim, a później w kontynuującym jego tradycje cesarstwie bizantyjskim. Do końca X wieku solid był główną monetą handlową Bizancjum, powszechnie nazywany tam nomisma. Znana też w szerszym obiegu jako bizant, moneta ta należała do najważniejszych środków płatniczych Europy i krajów Morza Śródziemnego do połowy XI wieku. Najpierw zastąpił ją wartościowszy złoty histamenon, a następnie przeprowadzona przez cesarza Aleksego I Komnena reforma monetarna wprowadziła hyperpyron jako najważniejszą monetę handlową Bizancjum. Od nazwy solidus wywodzą się liczne późniejsze nazwy pieniądza: sou, soldo, szyling, szeląg. Od nazwy tej pochodzą również słowa: żołnierz, soldier, soldado, солдат itp.
