Polaroid
Una polaroid es uno de los tipos de polarizadores lineales ópticos, una delgada película polarizante que se pega entre dos películas transparentes para proteger contra la humedad y el daño mecánico. Es un filtro de luz hecho de una fina película de cristales transparentes en la que se produce birrefringencia. Primero fabricado en 1932, fabricado en serie desde 1935. La película tiene dicroísmo lineal, no absorbe igualmente los componentes linealmente polarizados perpendiculares entre sí, incidentes en él.
