La salsa es un alimento auxiliar líquido o semisólido que se usa en la preparación de una comida en una cocina o se vierte en el transcurso de la comida. La palabra salsa es una palabra francesa y proviene de la palabra salsus que significa "salado" en latín. De acuerdo con su preparación y propósito, las salsas se nombran como salsa de soja, salsa bechamel o salsa de ensalada.
