Testis

La glándula o el testículo es la estructura que se encuentra a ambos lados del pene de los órganos reproductores masculinos. Las glándulas tienen tareas tales como la secreción de la hormona testosterona, la producción de esperma y el desarrollo de algunas características físicas específicas de los hombres. Las dos glándulas izquierda y derecha ubicadas en el lado izquierdo y derecho del escroto son parte de los conductos espermáticos y contienen una gran cantidad de estructuras vasculares. El escroto es una característica muy importante en términos de mantenimiento de la función espermática. Las células de esperma se ven afectadas negativamente por los cambios de temperatura y deben estar en un entorno de unos 2 grados más bajo que la temperatura corporal para poder realizar su función de manera óptima. Es por eso que está fuera del cuerpo. El calor dentro del torso es menor que el calor del cuerpo y se contrae en el frío, lo que evita la pérdida de calor. Por el contrario, se calienta para evitar que las células de esperma se expongan a un calor excesivo. Aunque los testículos son aproximadamente del mismo tamaño, están estructuralmente ubicados ligeramente debajo del lado izquierdo del testículo izquierdo. Cada testículo tiene conductos espermáticos pequeños muy curvados.

Torbanın vücut dışında bulunmasının nedeni budur. Torbanın içindeki ısı vücut ısısından daha düşüktür ve soğukta büzüşerek ısı kaybını önler. Sıcakta ise aksine sperm hücrelerinin aşırı ısıya maruz kalmalarını önlemek için gevşer. Testisler yaklaşık aynı büyüklükte olmalarına karşın yapısal olarak sol testis sağdakine göre biraz daha aşağıda yer alır. Her testis içinde küçük ve oldukça kıvrımlı sperm kanalcıkları bulunur.
