Auxin
Les auxins sont une classe d'hormones végétales avec des caractéristiques semblables à celles d'un morphogène. Auxins ont un rôle cardinal dans la coordination de nombreux processus de croissance et comportementaux dans le cycle de vie de l'usine et sont essentiels au développement du corps végétal. Auxins et leur rôle dans la croissance des plantes ont été décrits pour la première fois par le scientifique néerlandais Frits Warmolt Went. Kenneth V. Thimann a isolé cette phytohormone et a déterminé sa structure chimique comme acide indole-3-acétique. Went et Thimann ont co-auteur d'un livre sur les hormones végétales, Phytohormones, en 1937. L'auxine native indole-3-acétique est la plus abondante et l'auxine de base se produit et fonctionne normalement dans les plantes. Il génère la majorité des effets d'auxine dans les plantes intactes, et est l'auxine native la plus puissante.
