Mémoire Bubble
La mémoire bulle est un type de mémoire informatique non volatile qui utilise un film mince d'un matériau magnétique pour contenir de petites zones magnétisées, connues sous le nom de bulles ou de domaines, chaque stockage d'un bit de données. Le matériau est agencé pour former une série de pistes parallèles que les bulles peuvent se déplacer sous l'action d'un champ magnétique externe. Les bulles sont lues en les déplaçant au bord du matériau où elles peuvent être lues par un capteur magnétique conventionnel, puis réécrites sur le bord lointain pour garder la mémoire en train de faire du vélo dans le matériau. En fonctionnement, les mémoires à bulles sont similaires aux systèmes à mémoire retardée. La mémoire Bubble a commencé comme une technologie prometteuse dans les années 1980, offrant une densité de mémoire d'un ordre similaire à celui des disques durs, mais des performances plus comparables à la mémoire centrale. Cela a conduit beaucoup à considérer comme un concurrent pour une "mémoire universelle" qui pourrait être utilisée pour tous les besoins de stockage.
