Gaz de houille
Le gaz au charbon est un combustible gazeux inflammable fabriqué à partir de charbon et fourni à l'utilisateur par l'intermédiaire d'un système de distribution par canalisation. Le gaz de ville est un terme plus général qui se réfère aux combustibles gazeux fabriqués à la vente aux consommateurs et aux municipalités. Le gaz de charbon contient une variété de gaz calorifiques, y compris l'hydrogène, le monoxyde de carbone, le méthane et les hydrocarbures volatils, ainsi que de petites quantités de gaz non calorifiques tels que le dioxyde de carbone et l'azote.
