Dans la théorie des probabilités, une probabilité conditionnelle mesure la probabilité d'un événement donné (par hypothèse, présomption, assertion ou preuve) un autre événement s'est produit. Si les événements sont respectivement A et B, on dit que c'est «la probabilité d'un B donné». Il est communément désigné par P (A B), ou parfois par PB (A). Mais les probabilités conditionnelles peuvent être très glissantes et nécessitent une interprétation minutieuse. En inférence statistique, la probabilité conditionnelle est une mise à jour de la probabilité d'un événement en fonction de nouvelles informations.
