Commission des droits des personnes handicapées
La Commission des droits des personnes handicapées a été créée par le gouvernement britannique du travail en 1999. À cette époque, la RDC était la troisième commission de l'égalité au Royaume-Uni, aux côtés de la Commission pour l'égalité raciale et de la Commission pour l'égalité des chances. Son président de 2000 à 2007 était Bert Massie. La RDC a été chargée d'examiner la Loi de 1995 sur la discrimination envers les personnes handicapées et de recommander son amendement. Il avait des droits d'enquête et d'application de la législation sur les personnes handicapées et était chargé de conseiller les employeurs sur la manière d'assurer un traitement égal des employés handicapés. La RDC a remplacé un corps plus ancien et plus faible, le National Disability Council, établi par les conservateurs dans les années 1990. L'adoption de la Loi de 2006 sur l'égalité signifie que, en octobre 2007, la RDC a été remplacée par une nouvelle Commission de l'égalité et des droits de l'homme dotée de pouvoirs dans toutes les lois sur l'égalité. La RDC était un organisme public non ministériel du Département du Travail et des Pensions. Son siège social était dans le centre-ville de Manchester avec d'autres bureaux dans le centre de Londres, à Cardiff et à Edimbourg.
