Liturgie des heures
La liturgie des heures ou le bureau divin ou les heures canoniques, souvent appelé le bréviaire, est l'ensemble officiel des prières quotidiennes prescrites par l'Église catholique à réciter par le clergé, les instituts religieux et les laïcs. Il se compose principalement de psaumes complétés par des hymnes, des lectures et d'autres prières. Avec la messe, elle constitue la vie de prière publique officielle de l'Église. La récitation quotidienne de la liturgie des heures est une obligation canonique partout pour les prêtres et pour les diacres aspirant au sacerdoce; L'étendue de l'obligation pour les diacres permanents est déterminée par la conférence épiscopale concernée. La liturgie des heures forme également la base de la prière au sein du monachisme chrétien. La Liturgie des Heures, avec l'Eucharistie, fait partie du culte public de l'Eglise dès les premiers temps. Les chrétiens des traditions orientales et occidentales célèbrent la liturgie des heures sous divers noms.
