Echocardiographie
L'échocardiogramme, souvent appelé écho cardiaque ou tout simplement un écho, est un sonogramme du cœur. L'échocardiographie utilise des échographies standard bidimensionnelles, tridimensionnelles et Doppler pour créer des images du cœur. L'échocardiographie est habituellement utilisée dans le diagnostic, la gestion et le suivi des patients atteints de maladies cardiaques présumées ou connues. C'est l'un des tests de diagnostic les plus utilisés en cardiologie. Il peut fournir une multitude d'informations utiles, y compris la taille et la forme du cœur, la capacité de pompage, l'emplacement et l'étendue de tout dommage tissulaire. Un échocardiogramme peut également donner aux médecins d'autres estimations de la fonction cardiaque, comme un calcul du débit cardiaque, une fraction d'éjection et une fonction diastolique. L'échocardiographie peut aider à détecter les cardiomyopathies, telles que la cardiomyopathie hypertrophique, la cardiomyopathie dilatée et bien d'autres. L'utilisation de l'échocardiographie de stress peut également aider à déterminer si une douleur thoracique ou des symptômes associés sont liés à une maladie cardiaque. Le plus grand avantage pour l'échocardiographie est qu'il n'est pas invasif et n'a aucun risque ou effets secondaires connus.
