Microscope à électrons
Un microscope électronique est un type de microscope qui utilise un faisceau d'électrons pour éclairer un spécimen et produire une image agrandie. Un EM a un pouvoir de résolution plus élevé qu'un microscope optique et peut révéler la structure d'objets plus petits car les électrons ont des longueurs d'ondes d'environ 100 000 fois plus courtes que les photons lumineux visibles. Ils peuvent atteindre une résolution de plus de 50 h et des grossissements allant jusqu'à environ 10 000 000 x alors que les microscopes lumineux ordinaires et non confocaux sont limités par la diffraction à une résolution d'environ 200 nm et des grossissements utiles inférieurs à 2000x. Les microscopes électroniques sont utilisés pour étudier l'ultrastructure d'une large gamme de spécimens biologiques et inorganiques, y compris les microorganismes, les cellules, les grandes molécules, les échantillons de biopsie, les métaux et les cristaux. Sur le plan industriel, le microscope électronique est souvent utilisé pour le contrôle de la qualité et l'analyse des défaillances.
