Fire-and-forget est un type de guidage antimissile qui ne requiert pas d'autres conseils après le lancement, comme l'éclairage de la cible ou le guidage du fil, et peut atteindre sa cible sans que le lanceur soit en ligne de vue de la cible. Il s'agit d'une propriété importante pour une arme guidée, car une personne ou un véhicule qui persiste près de la cible pour guider le missile (en utilisant, par exemple, un désignateur laser) est vulnérable aux attaques et incapable d'exécuter d'autres tâches. Généralement, l'information sur la cible est programmée dans le missile juste avant le lancement.
