Test de flamme
Un test de flamme est une procédure analytique utilisée en chimie pour détecter la présence de certains éléments, principalement des ions métalliques, en fonction du spectre d'émission caractéristique de chaque élément. La couleur des flammes en général dépend aussi de la température; Voir la couleur de la flamme. Le test implique l'introduction d'un échantillon de l'élément ou du composé à une flamme chaude, non lumineuse et en observant la couleur de la flamme qui en résulte. L'idée du test est que les atomes d'échantillons s'évaporent et, comme ils sont chauds, ils émettent de la lumière lorsqu'ils sont en flammes. L'échantillon en vrac émet également de la lumière, mais sa lumière n'est pas bonne pour l'analyse. L'échantillon en vrac émet de la lumière principalement en raison du mouvement des atomes, donc son spectre est large, consistant en une large gamme de couleurs. Les atomes séparés d'échantillon présent en flamme peuvent émettre uniquement en raison de transitions électroniques entre différents niveaux d'énergie atomique. Ces transitions émettent des fréquences très spécifiques, caractéristiques de l'élément chimique lui-même. Par conséquent, la flamme obtient la couleur, qui est principalement déterminée par les propriétés de l'élément chimique de la substance qui est mis en flammes.
