Les flatworms, ou Platyhelminthes, Plathelminthes, ou Platyhelminths (du grec πλατύ, platy, signifiant "flat" et ἕλμινς (root: ἑλμινθ-), helminth-, signifiant worm) sont un phylum de bilaternaire relativement simple, non segmenté, à corps doux Invertébrés. Contrairement à d'autres bilatériaux, ce sont des acoélomes (sans cavité corporelle) et ne possèdent pas d'organes respiratoires et circulatoires spécialisés qui les empêchent d'avoir des formes aplaties qui permettent à l'oxygène et aux nutriments de traverser leur corps par diffusion. La cavité digestive n'a qu'une seule ouverture pour l'ingestion (apport de nutriments) et l'absorption (élimination des déchets non digérés); En conséquence, les aliments ne peuvent pas être traités en continu. Dans les textes de zoologie traditionnelle, les Platyhelminthes sont divisés en Turbellaria, principalement des animaux non parasitaires tels que les planaires et trois groupes entièrement parasitaires: Cestoda, Trematoda et Monogenea; Cependant, puisque les turtletaires ont depuis été prouvés qu'ils ne sont pas monophylétiques, cette classification est maintenant obsolète.
