Schwarzenau Brethren
Les Frères Schwarzenau, ou les Frères Baptistes Allemands, comme on l'appelle en Amérique, sont issus de l'Allemagne, résultat du ferment Pietist Radical de la fin du XVIIe et du début du XVIIIe siècle. A l'espoir du retour imminent du Christ, les frères fondateurs ont abandonné les églises réformées et luthériennes établies, formant une nouvelle église en 1708 quand leurs espoirs apocalyptiques étaient encore insatisfaits. Ils ont donc tenté de traduire «l'idée de l'amour de Philadelphie en ordonnances collectives concrètes obligatoires pour tous les membres». Contrairement aux philadelphiens, les Frères ont rejeté l'acceptation de la révélation directe de Leade et ont mis l'accent sur le christianisme primitif en tant que norme contraignante pour les pratiques de congrégation. Les frères fondateurs étaient également en conversation avec les Mennonites et influencés par des écrits anabaptistes. En Allemagne, les Frères sont connus sous le nom de Neue Täufer, en distinction des anciens groupes anabaptistes. Aux États-Unis, ils ont été connus sous le nom de Dunkers, Dunkards ou Tunkers, les corruptions du verbe allemand tunken, à dip.
