Great tit
Le grand tit est un oiseau passerine chez Paridae. C'est une espèce répandue et commune dans toute l'Europe, le Moyen-Orient, l'Asie centrale et septentrionale, et certaines parties de l'Afrique du Nord dans toute sorte de bois. Il réside habituellement, et les plus gros seins ne migrent que dans des hivers extrêmement difficiles. Jusqu'en 2005, cette espèce était regroupée avec de nombreuses autres sous-espèces. Les études de l'ADN ont montré que ces autres sous-espèces étaient distinctives de la grande tête et ces derniers ont été séparés comme deux espèces distinctes, le titrage cinéreux du sud de l'Asie et le japonais de l'Asie de l'Est. Le grand tit reste l'espèce la plus répandue dans le genre Parus. Le grand tit est un oiseau distinctif, avec une tête et un cou noir, des joues blanches éminentes, des parties supérieures d'olive et des parties inférieures jaunes, avec une certaine variation parmi les nombreuses sous-espèces. Il est principalement insectivore en été, mais consommera une gamme plus large d'aliments pendant les mois d'hiver, y compris les petits chauves-souris en hibernation. Comme tous les seins, c'est un nid de cavité, habituellement niché dans un trou dans un arbre. La femelle pose environ 12 oeufs et les incube seule, bien que les deux parents élever les poussins.
